Reviews
In a beautiful rainforest,
in the heart of Peru,
lived Arnold, the anteater
and a tree frog named Lou. A wonderful book for young readers, which offers a bit of everything, including fun rhymes, beautiful illustrations, interesting facts, and a traveling experience in its own. Francesca Watt delivers a new story that will encourage children to explore their own creativity and pursue their dreams of adventure.
My daughter has several favorite books and The Crafty Chameleon is one of them. When we discovered that the author has published another book, we were beyond excited. We got to meet Arnold and Lou, and had a lot of fun joining the anteater and tree frog in their adventures. They have a big dream, they want to fly! And how amazing would it be if they could see all the wonders of the world in the process!
Have you ever had a dream and plucked the courage to pursue it, only to discover the journey was not as easy as it seemed? Well, I think our kids often deal with this, and it is up to us, their ever-loving parents, to teach them that they should never give up. Stories like All in a Flap can help us do just that, not to mention its so much fun to cuddle with your kid and read together. Arnold and Lou made us hungry for adventure and travel, and I was happy that I got to share plenty of giggles with my daughter.
The story offered me an opportunity to talk to my little girl about dreams and what she should do when things do not go as planned. We took delight in the rainforest animals, talked about the landmarks sprinkled throughout the story and repeated the rhymes, so she can speak English better, as we are not native speakers. For me, as a parent, the big plus of the book lies in the growth mindset and the lesson of perseverance. Stories like this one, written in a rhyming format, encourage children to stay true to themselves and fight for their dreams.
What a great story! Arnold and Lou are the most adorable characters, and we loved following their adventures. From the beautiful illustrations to the lessons sprinkled throughout the story, we had an amazing experience. Not only are we looking forward to more adventures with this adorable duo, but we are already making traveling plans. Should we stop by the Eiffel Tower? Or maybe visit the Amazon rainforest? The sky is the limit!
I adore Francesca Watt's previous books and when I saw the cover of this new book, I just knew it would be another winner! It's very cleverly written in rhyme as with her previous books. Not many rhyming books can tell a story in an effective and interesting way at the same time, but she does this so wonderfully. Every line on every page flowed smoothly and made me want to keep turning the pages to find out what would happen to these adorable characters Arnold the anteater and Lou the tree frog. They dream about traveling the world. Wishing they had wings to fly, they tried to make their own wings but nothing seems to work... until... well I won't spoil it for you. You'll have to read it!
I also love the loops showing the paths they might take and the different fonts. It made reading fun and engaging. The illustrations are so beautiful and detailed, it felt like I was traveling alongside Arnold and Lou and admiring all the sights they were seeing. The message is also such an important lesson for us all it doesn't matter how to get there, what path you take, how long it takes or how many times you might fail, just keep trying and follow your dreams and you will get there eventually! After many attempts, these two eventually managed to visit some amazing wonders around the world! My favorite page is the one with all the polaroids of them visiting different countries and famous landmarks.
I'm so happy to see that it will become a series and really look forward to the next one and seeing what these two will get up to! I wholeheartedly recommend this lovely book!
I have read Francescas other books, and I was excited to start this one. And I was not disappointed. Shes a great storyteller with a pinch of humour. Its a story about two friends Arnoldthe anteater and Louthe tree frog. They live in the rainforest, they play together, and they dream together. And they dream of travelling around the world and even in space. They imagine visiting different places on earth and their famous landmarks. But they have no idea how to make it a reality. Until one day well, I cant tell you more not to spoil the fun! The author is also an illustrator and I absolutely adore her style! But its not only illustrations, the layout of the book, the way she connected the text, pleasant flow with rhyming, everything is just perfect. And as a bonus at the end of the book, there are some activity sheets to make the fun even longer! I cant wait to read the next book. I would highly recommend it.
I couldnt wait to order a copy of this book for my niece, having read the ebook. Its such a lovely story about friendship and adventure, told in rhyme and so imaginatively illustrated! I particularly love the tones used, the colours are just gorgeous as well as the way the words cleverly lead the reader through the double-page illustrations. There is so much to take in on each page. Gently encouraging children to be a little bit adventurous, yet not too trusting of the unknown, while instilling a growth mindset to persevere against adversity. The book achieves its objectives so beautifully and even includes famous landmarks and greetings in different languages! We love it!
This book made me giggle.
I loved the cute little rhymes.
The illustrations are adorable, which completed this great adventurous book.
These two little engineers were determined to find a way to visit different places.
The way they constructed different ways to fly made me laugh. Great message for children to learn, if you fail, try, try again, and find a new way.
At the end the author added a fun, did you spot some of our rainforest friends. Which made me go back through the book to find them. Also a section for your kiddo to draw or write where they would like to go.
They will visit Arizona next! I read the ebook and needed an actual copy for my kiddos.
