My Grandpa is a Wizard - A Funny Children's Picture Book - Paperback

I have a soft spot for stories that feature family members, especially since I grew with a grandpa who seemed to have magical abilities indeed. In this lovely story, part of an entire series dedicated to the unexpected, we get to see a unique grandpa. Does he really have magical abilities? Well, I invite you to read the book to find out. All I can say is that you are in for a real treat, as Francesca Watt has written a charming tale, with wonderful illustrations she has done herself.

My opinion:

Imagine being a little girl, admiring your grandpa more than anything in the world. How amazing would have been to have a grandpa who is also a wizard? Well, this here is our story. She seems to be the only one observing her quirky grandpa, doing her best to convince others. One of the things I liked the most about the story is her coming to terms with the rest of her family refusing to see the truth. The moment she reached the conclusion her grandpa might be a wizard, the look on her face said it all. Pure love, nothing more.

I applaud the author for having such a brilliant imagination. She is a master with words, playing with rhymes, enchanting readers with wordplay as well. Her illustrations are excellent, my daughter can recognize them on the spot. I also love them, as they are so colorful and vibrant. Kids might be drawn to this story for the obvious reasons, but I think parents will be too, being reminded of their own grandpas and how �magical� their childhood was, all thanks to them. Francesca�s book is a beautiful tribute brought to grandpas everywhere and all the amazing things they are capable of.

If you are looking for a book that celebrates the unique relationship between grandparents and grandchildren, you have found it. From a different perspective, I believe that stories like this one will encourage children to believe in the extraordinary, in the things that do not fit the norm. I love this! More often than not, society forces children to stay on a rigid path, which also affects their creativity and imagination. Let�s counteract this with beautiful books like this one. The more, the better. And if you have a reluctant reader at home, I can guarantee this is the book to offer, as it resembles comic strips.

What a brilliant new series - we loved this one so much that we got all of them! They are so cleverly done in a comic-book style, which makes them really fun and engaging for a wider age group. Such a brilliant format to encourage reluctant readers too as the text is broken down across the comic-strip illustrations. The illustrations are so cool and my son thought the talking dog was hilarious! The concept of the series is brilliant - it got us wondering which of our relatives was most likely to possess hidden secret powers and what they might be! Brilliantly entertaining. We loved 'My Grandpa is a Wizard'!

Another awesome Top Secret book! ??????? Having a wizard for a grandpa is such a cool idea, and the other kids were too jealous to believe her in this story! ???? I loved all the magical elements present in this one, and the added element of Halloween was so fun too!

Every child who reads this book will be looking for the secret magical powers their grandpa�s been hiding - it�s just brilliant! It has lots of proper laugh-out-loud moments and it�s so clever how the author has disguised Grandpa�s wizardly ways. I especially liked the part with the dog, but I won�t spoil it for anyone by saying more! Oh, and the illustrations are so good! I�m so pleased there are more in this series - my godson is going to love them!
